Logion 11: Freedom

Yeshua says...

The sky and all that lies in the dimensions above it
will cease to exist.

The dead know nothing of life, and the living will never die.

When you consume that which is already dead,
you are turning it back into life.
So, then, when you too re-emerge into the Light,
what will you do?

For on the day when you were created one,
you also became two,
but when you come to realize your twoness again,
what will you do?

A question of choice again. . . . and a beautifully imagined answer in the text image.

Logion 11 makes more sense to me if I assume that there was a translation error. I wish I had the original Greek version but we have only uncovered a translation in Coptic. I think somewhere the words "first" was translated as "one" also "second" as "two". To speak of "twoness" as an accomplishment goes against the many other logion where "unity" is the goal.

If we assume that there are two options at the beinging of the logion and later referenes to the first as "one" and the second as "two" we see instead:

"This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.

[first option] The dead are not alive, and [second option] the living will not die.

[first option] In the days when you consumed what is dead, [second option] you made it what is alive.

When you come to dwell in the light, what will you do?

On the day when you were [not "one" but "the first option": dead], you became [not "two" but "the second option"" alive]

But when you become [not "two" but "the second option": alive], what will you do?"

Or without all the "scaffolding"

"This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.
The dead are not alive, and the living will not die.
In the days when you consumed what is dead, you made it what is alive.
When you come to dwell in the light, what will you do?
On the day when you were dead, you became alive.
But when you become alive, what will you do?"

Actually I think "twoness" is correct. When we are born, "created one," when we become aware of ourselves as separate beings, then we see everything as "Me" or "Not Me" -- that is, in discovering ourselves as individuals we take on the mindset of duality. It is not until we understand that we have been isolated by our own dual mindset -- when we realize our twoness -- that we have the opportunity to reclaim our one-ness with creation.

Love the poem, the true flight is the journey back to oneness.
This is a cryptic logion, I have spent days pondering "when you consume that which is already dead, you are turning it back to life."
